I met Mallory and Lee in 2015 when I photographed their engagement session, and instantly connected with them. They are laid back and fun loving people. I've said this before, but ill say it again, they make my job easy! Photographing their chemistry was such a joy, and I am honored that I was chosen to capture their wedding memories!
When asking how Mallory and Lee met, I could tell how beautiful their love story was.
"Lee and I met in my apartment's laundry room in Blacksburg. My best friend and I were doing laundry, I was in my pajamas of course haha, Lee was at our friends apartment next to the laundry room. He came through the laundry room door and said "I heard there were two lovely ladies in here" and proceeded to introduce himself. I was friends with his roommates and they were having a party later that week so I went and he asked for my number. Our first date he took me fishing on the New River and I caught a huge fish! (Really he hooked it and I reeled it in, but nonetheless he was impressed haha). He started building our house almost two years into our relationship, kept me involved in every decision. When the house was done he proposed on our front porch while I was sitting on an old rocking chair from my grandparents old house. I was so surprised! I wasn't expecting it at all which made it so special. We had a year long engagement and had, in my opinion, the most perfect wedding day! I had so much fun and everything had turned out even better than expected!"
Lee and Mallory exchanged vows to one another, touching and similar to most weddings, but what was really unique and beautiful was when their officiant Will Cox, told a few stories about how he met and got to know the groom Lee, and told a little about Lee's character. He also shared how impressed he was with Mallory the moment he met her. When the officiant told these stories, I instantly felt like I knew the couple much more and could relate to so much. It was such a beautiful touch to an already beautiful day.
The wedding took place at Silverbrook Farm in Purcellville, VA. Mallory, when explaining the venue said, "Some fun facts about the venue: the owner, Dot Shetterly, has lived there her entire life and the farm has been in her family for generations. It was a working beef farm until her husband passed away and it is now a B&B and wedding venue! I grew up down the road from them and I have known Dot and that farm for a majority of my life - so it was very special to get married there!" That is amazing am I right?!?
I had my WONDERFUL second shooter to assist me on this wedding day, Gina Nilce! She is so fun to work with, as she understands my style and her style flows well with mine. Here's some cool shots she did below:
Gina is pretty awesome right?!? Not only is she a great photographer, she is an incredible singer/songwriter! You can find her work here: http://ginanilce.bandcamp.com/releases She is revamping her photography site, and will soon have it active here: Ginanilce.com
